Tess Fragoulis: "Alternately, you might spend time with people who should have got divorced, but didn't, opting instead for a lifetime of bickering and dissatisfaction. Call up Mom and Dad and invite yourself over for dinner. Understand once and for all why marriage has always seemed a fate worse than death to you."

Or, you can just ignore the whole thing altogether if you're single, treating it like any other day, instead of being a tired, snarky, bitter cliché.

Ah..... sounds like poor Tess was the only one that didn't get some flowers. Bitterness, what other trait can make you laugh at someone so easily?

Tess isn't bitter, she's actually quite nice and a very good writer.

The best thing that ever happened with my parent's marriage was their divorce. My mother: "We stayed together because of you kids." (bullshit).

I took a writing class from tess last year, and she is certainly bitter. In a pleasent cynical sort of way sure, but bitter is bitter.

That said, The best of the web this isn't.

The worst day of the year to be single is, by far, Feb. 14.

Most people I know would say New Year's Eve.
