you know, I missed out on smb3 when it first hit consoles in the states, and so the first time I got to play it was on the gameboy re-release. I totally didn't realize that they'd beefed up the graphics for the gameboy release, so when I was looking at the screenshots in the article and the guy said the graphics were improved I thought he was joking. then I looked up original nes smb3 screenshots. dedicated does not begin to describe this coder. good on him, man. good on him.

Some things that are awesome about this game: -fireballs no longer respond to gravity -new levels make it feel like fifth grade all over again Some things that are annoying about this game -backgrounds change after every death (and deaths don't seem to matter, do they? -new levels make me feel as dumb as a fifth grader. It's frustrating not to know the levels instictively.

Some things that are annoying about this game -backgrounds change after every death (and deaths don't seem to matter, do they? -new levels make me feel as dumb as a fifth grader. It's frustrating not to know the levels instictively. I kind of dig the part about the backgrounds progressing through various weather and phases of light and dark. I mean, how come there was never any day and night in the original marios?? But I don't like the snowy weather; this game is hard enough without sliding all over the damn place. And given that there's no limit on extra lives, I just give up whenever a level starts snowy. This game is quite difficult; it could certainly eat up an entire weekend if I didn't have so many other committments. For the first time, I'm tempted to buy a USB-converted nintendo controller.
