KLF are more famous for pulling hoaxes of hoaxes than actually pulling hoaxes. There's video of them burning something which looks like money. But nobody, by their own account, actually saw them burn one million pounds.

An examination of the totality of their careers couldn't lead you to any other conclusion. How many other major pop stars have ever scrapped all sales of their back catalogue in it's totality while it was still a viable product, thereby denying themselves potential millions in royalties? I don't buy the Pete Doherty story, but I do wish it were true.

I totally buy it. The KLF is in fact very famous for their pranks - and this really fits in with their great book - The Manual or How To Have A Number One Hit The Easy Way. http://www.instrumentality.com/themanual.html This manual was used by a band to make a number one hit. It is actually a good read for anyone, especially musicians. But I digress. KLF were actually a _very_ competent band in their own right. Their best work is perhaps their most overlooked - KLF - Chill Out. It is the chill-out / ambient genre defining album. Probably still my favorite album of all time.

Did Jive Bunny really follow the manual? Doubt it. The band who did, and had a number one in the UK, were Eidelweiss, with their song 'Give Me Eidelweiss'. Sold two million, despite being/because it was truly fucking awful

How many other major pop stars have ever scrapped all sales of their back catalogue in it's totality while it was still a viable product, thereby denying themselves potential millions in royalties? is this why there's a timelords cd in every used or cutout bin?
