Jack Hamm Religious Cartoons. Hamm's art instruction books, including Cartooning the Head and Figure, have been widely influential among a generation of illustrators, Simpson's creator Matt Groening among them. Hamm began his cartooning career in the late 1930s and founded "The Jack Hamm Show," one of the first television art programs, which aired in the Dallas, Houston and Waco, Texas, TV markets.

Very interesting stuff - some of it is very poignant.
Much better than Chick's work.
Definitely not as campy.

...oh look...he's been reading metafilter...

Giant, sunglasses-wearing, godless gorillas. That's atheism, all right.

I have this book. Not bad, quite detailed in places, and comically dated. I had no notion of his religious work. Makes me want to disavow my agnosticism and become an atheist, just to be a gorilla.

Some of it I actually really like, some of it well is hilariously black and white. But at least he cleared this whole mess up for us: Creation vs Evolution

Is it just me, or are those terrible and clumsy editorial-style cartoons?

Mmm. Fucked-up religious bigot draws quite well. I once saw a monkey that could dance.

Two pages of noses, people! NOSES!!!

I wouldn't call him a bigot, though he does have his religious views. Rather striking, I must say.
