I'm not so sure crunchland. I've listened to a couple more of his songs with as open a mind as a I can muster. And he can sing, he can make music and there's a sort of amusing whimsy to what he does. But try as I might....well let's just say I'll have to remain the contrarian in this thread. However if anyone can explain to me why he's a genius or great or why they love him (rather than simply stating that they do) I'm prepared to give it another go.

lol rhymer, please listen to Podsafe Christmas Song and rethink your opinion...Kidding aside, the music's fun, pleasantly witty in a mod pop kinda way, he's got a good voice and plays nice acoustic guitar. Something like Christopher Cross meets Simon and Garfunkle for the iPod crowd. The lyrics are playfully articulate about unexpected subjects, like Mandelbrot Set, Ikea, I Hate California or Devolving. I find it likeable. :)
