Starcade was an arcade-themed game show that aired in the early 1980's. Today is the last day to watch episode #59 online.

"You mean you were watching episode #59 before it switched servers?"
"Yeah-"
"And what'd you think of it?"
"It was okay. Then we let the machine drop."

Thanks for this. I love Starcade. I remember back when G4 launched they were showing Starcade every day. Of course, now they have moved on to more modern, video-game centric shows such as Star Trek - The Next Generation, the Man Show and Fastlane. Thanks G4.

(no, really, you guys suck)

Another great video game themed show from the 80s is Knightmare (available on any convenient BitTorrent). It mashed up D&D, virtual reality, avatars, and spotty nerds shouting "WALK FORWARD!" and "LEFT! LEFT! LEFT!" over and over. Not to mention the weirdness of having the main contestant hooded and completely blind. Quite hypnotic.

Now lets see who gets a chance at the ole Bump 'N Jump.

::sigh:: this makes me feel old.

you know, that 80's style was pretty rockin'. somebody should bring it back. how cool would it be if the 80's were, like, totally RETRO?

and is it just me or is the hotel where some Starcade contestants stay the same one where (a decade later) Christopher Walken danced and flew around in Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" video?

Heh. When they were showing the fabulous prize of an Aquarius home computer system, my (younger) girlfriend said: "Where's the monitor?"
