JDoom. Get this. It's a patch for Doom that allows for 3D acceleration, dynamic lighting, free mouse looking, and remapping keys. Works with ANY version of Doom. Simply Unzip the file [737k] into your Doom dir and run JDoom.bat (for OpenGL mode). It also supports D3D (I'll explain inside). Some screenshots: 1 2 3. Doom shareware is available here.

To run JDoom in D3D mode, edit JDoom.bat to be:

doomsday -game jdoom.dll -gl drd3d.dll %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9

That should work.

What is drd3d.dll? I assumed that it was some DirectX 3d dll, but I have DX installed (version 7a) and can't seem to locate this.

First off, it wouldnt hurt for you to download DirectX 8.0. But I don't think thats the problem.

drD3D.dll is included in the zip file I linked to. Whats your problem exactly?

It doesn't work for ANY version of Doom. I really doubt it'll do much for the Mac version, f'rinstance... ;)
