The work reminds me a bit of Dave McKean, but a little more old fashioned (as mentioned). I like them quite a bit, and suspect I'll be ordering a print or two. I do wish that Flash wasn't required to see the galleries, though, and that the music was off by default. Thanks for the post!

Waterfall I, with the model Sarah is very neo-Raphaelite... I'm digging it much. The one with the lady having butterflies coming out of her unstitched chest reminds me of the cover of one of the albums by Download. Very cool work, thanks for the link...

I especially love the navigation diagram. Forget intuitive interface, this site wants you to study how to use it. Nice images, though. Oops, now the site just froze up on me. Screw it, they're not that good.

Interesting stuff. Though I did come away thinking someone had figured out how to Photoshop a neat Daguerrotype effect and decided to apply it to everything they did. And, yeah, the use of Flash is a bit over the top here. Getting to the pics required having two additional windows opening in the browser.

I'd never seen David Mckean before reading mkhall and dgaicun's comments. I do see a resemblance, but Dave Mckean in turn appears to owe some inspiration to Brad Holland.

Hmm interesting effects but... sorry, I can't stand the pre-raphaelite neo-victorian affectation. It gets on my tits so much. I don't know, the images just feel 'flat' and pointless. Never heard of McKean or Holland before but just from a quick look their stuff looks much more inventive and forceful to me. I like Holland's especially.

Is Flash used to discourage people from copying pictures? I ask because I see it so often on sites where the pictures are the high-value content, and because Flash (in my limited experience with it, anyway) always makes it harder to steal the images.

I think the resemblance between Donovan and McKean is more clear if you consider Donovan against McKean's more photoshopographic work such as The Particle Tarot, Black and White Lies and Option-Click. I actually saw quite a bit in Donovan's work that I would consider derivative of McKean rather than simply inspired, but still his work is enjoyable.

Never completely realized just how influential the works of Joel Peter Witkin had become, but I firmly suspect that this influence will have become absolutely ubiquitous once all the goths learn CS2.

Because artists don't think it's crappy. Anal retentive engineer/geek/nerds do. Sorry. I'm an artist, and I think it's crappy. Artist portfolios are almost universally terrible because they feel like they're allowed to sacrifice usability for looks. This site is no exception.

Ugh, anybody that launches a pop-up, from a popup which contains a diagram that explains buttons you can barely see needs to be beaten with a mixing spoon. The pictures were okay. The heavily altered ones were pretty good. But the later ones in the list were just suicide girl photos. And the crappy enya style music really turned me off too.

Spend any time looking through books of current photographic work in a few galleries and you'll realize he's one of the most imitated artists out there. Him, and the Starn twins. (their site sucks a little, not my fault)
