Criticker

Criticker Criticker aims to match you with the people who share your taste in film most exactly. By using the Taste Compatibility Index (TCI), you can identify with whom you most agree, out of thousands. It's more than just movie recommendations: you're paired with the people whose tastes are most compatible with your own, and thus get the most accurate advice possible. We strive to make Criticker an open system. Although the calculations behind the TCI might only be interesting to a small group of geeks people, we make it available. You can see exactly why a certain user is in your top 10, or why a particular film was recommended. If you want, you can sit there with a pen and paper and do the math yourself (geek heaven!) Also, we're honest: Criticker will never push films upon you -- if the math predicts that you'll hate a new blockbuster, that's what we'll tell you!

What does your math tell you about how this FPP will be received?

This will not end well. Folks will be wielding cricket bats shortly. That's just based on me liking Goodfellas, though.

it's kind of hard to rate films on a scale of 1-100.

Someone called vincente has been spamming this everywhere. He's banned form MoFi. Self link.

Not that this post will last long, but I thought I'd let you know that the name of your website makes me want to hurt myself.

This actually sounded kind of cool. I'm glad I read the thread before supporting vincente in his attempt to spam the Internet with his Criticker.

I give this post a -9.5. Sponsored by Pepsi Blue, of course.

Interesting - you actually CAN tell when someone's spammed even before you do the research! They just copy their own ad-bs.

If I had a moustache like that, I wouldn't be pulling that smirk.

vincente, you're an asshole for posting this. MeFi is not an advertisement medium.

I hope something suitably bad happens to you in the next few days.

I don't really care if it's a self-link if it's useful or interesting.

Doesn't seem to be either though. The recommendations and list features seem cruder than Amazon's equivalents, and involve a lot more clicking. The recommendations didn't seem particularly helpful: out of the four, two of them I'd seen and liked, the other two I've no intention of seeing.

My name is Smart Dalek, one a number of film students at the prestidgious Academy of the Photographic Sciences, which, as you may know, was founded by Dr. Roy Richards, the celebrated cinematograpoher and critic.

It has recently come about that a former alumnus, a person whom I cannot name for reasons which will become quite obvious in our future correspondence, had passed away shortly before arranging a fellowship grant to my college's trust. There has been much discord concerning the ownership of the money, and will only get worse without the aid of fellow lovers of the film-making arts such as yourself.

What I ask is quite simple, and can be handled through the banks with little trouble, as I assure you, the process involved is quite legal, which I have very carefully researched.

It is on this basis I am seeking for assistance. Your percentage is negotiable. Please note; your age and profession doesn't really matter in this transaction. Waiting for your immediate response.

Your fellow admirer of the craft of the screen,
Smart Dalek
