Looking for somewhere to go and see how humanity celebrates being alive? Or maybe you're just interested in nettle eating, a parade of the unmarried women, wife carrying championships, sand sculpture or kinetic sculpture. If you're gonna make an omlette, you have to break some eggs.

Note that this is a huge site: all of the above examples came from "bizarre" just in May/June. I find for best results you should limit your search using one-off events to get the good stuff.

The wife carrying thing in Finland is getting more and more airplay, in ten years that little town will be as well known as Pamplona. Tourism! Money! Good for them, and good on Rosvo-Ronkainen for his creative and original gang recruitment technique.

I've always been partial to the Air Guitar World Championships held annually in my beloved home country. (Finland, I might add, is not a part of Scandinavia. Or maybe it is.)
