Cue left shoe: drop. eToys lops off its European arm; how far behind can the US arm be?

Not bloody far. I never quite understood why the company was floundering until I saw their new building on Olympic and Centinela.

If there is anything that dot-coms take away from the Purge of '00, I hope it's this: don't spend cash you don't have on a gigantic building you can't afford. The eToys building is ridiculously big and new; God knows how much it cost, but I'm sure it didn't help out their bottom line any.

Here's the other shoe (on the other arm), a 70% cut in US staff plus closing of some facilities.

1000 employees? There was really no need for eToys to have 1000 employees, as has been proven by the fact they're axing 700 of them. More "New Economy" silliness.
