Nikki Sudden is dead. After playing a show this weekend at the Knitting Factory, Nikki Sudden of the Swell Maps and The Jacobites, as well as tons of solo stuff, died suddenly. Details and discussion. Remembrance and a live set from just this past Monday on WFMU.

This is too bizarre.
I saw him play years ago at Maxwells (Hoboken) after the release of that double LP Collision Time Revisited.Let's Build a Car is a great song.

NS lived in Atlanta/Athens for a little while and played down here a LOT. Listen to the next Personality Crisis (via the archive at www.wrek.org) after it airs next Sunday night, because Jon is likely to play nothing but NS. He's a big fan -- and a great mimic :)
Oh baby!

The live set (mp3stream) from last Monday on WFMU is really long and really really good.

who was he? just an absolutely wonderful musician, who'd quietly been making great records since 1977, that's all.
