Village Idiot

We may run out of oil, but we'll never run out of irony. Victor Willis, the policeman from the 70s disco band "Village People" was arrested for going AWOL (at the age of 54) after agreeing to a plea bargain for 2005 gun and drug possession charges. He'll be exploring a new fan base in prison. Good thing the folks from America's Most Wanted were on this case. It's not like we have terrorists out there on the lam. Maybe he should've hidden in Paris. Somebody there seems to fancy him.

'Tis a sad day for guys like me, old timers, people who wade arthritic knee deep in the past, convincing ourselves that they don;t make Grand music with meaning and depth the way the Village Boys did (and do)...What I liked about thaty group is that they stuck out their gayness right out front, relished it, kidded about it, and won the listeners over with the joyous music and fun as they performed. Now we are getting around to--wow--gay cowboys in love! Took some time for this and the film is a lot more subtle than the Village Boys.

As for comment badmouthing them: when this earth melts into oblivion, The Village Boys might be heard to sing the final farewell.

I don't know what's sadder: the pug, the cat, and the cop being posted here; or the fact that I've already seen all three of them.

Wow, I haven't seen this ALL OVER THE NEWS at all.

Oh wait, yes I have. And its not ironic at all.

Also, why did you post verbatim one of your blog entries here? Bad form.

I lived right next-door to Victor for years.
I'm actually less surprised by his arrest than by the fact that he's still alive.
Crack cocaine is a hell of a drug...

Excellent use of an ironic false dichotomy. Harro Harro!

With the oil, "AWOL" and terrorist references, I got it in my head that Victor Willis had made a plea bargain with the USG to serve as a soldier in Iraq in exchange for having the charges dropped. Weird FPP language.

Ok, I'm confused.

What does some washed-up musician's arrest have to do with oil, and how is his arrest ironic?
