Benjamin Krain, photojournalist

Benjamin Krain, photojournalist. His series on Katrina captures both scale and detail. His portfolio includes work on Afghanistan, Cuba, Burning Man. His work on the Marshallese was previously on Mefi. (flash warning for the haters)
This is one of the best photographers I've seen linked on MetaFilter. The intuitive sense of composition, the sensitivity to color, the balance between playful, abstract lightplay and a deeply evident humanity . . . argh, I'm sounding like a freshman art major. Anyway. Unlike so much photography nowadays, his technique, though impeccable, disappears in service to the larger vision. If he continues to push just a little further past the obvious, I think this guy could be Very Important. I get echoes of William Eggleston. In so many pictures, I was just delighted. This made my night, thanks so much madamjujujive.

I believe this is the only photographer linked on Mefi that i've actually wanted to see all of their work (and I've even posted a link to a photographer's page about a year ago). Great images.

Fabulous photos. It took me a little while to comprehend what the scattered road trains were until I got the hang if the scale.

He even figured out how to create an easy to use flash interface.

Just amazing, every one tells a story without ramming it down your throat.
Brilliant photos, thanks for posting. This is what this site is all about.

wow.
I agree that this guy is going to be Big. He manages to capture the spirit of whatever place he's shooting, and still maintains a distinct, even formalistic, sense of his own style. Quite an accomplishment for a photojournalist.
