Those are really beautiful. They're great fun to make, even when, like me, you have no idea what you're doing. Ukranian tradition has it that making pysanka eggs keeps the world safe from evil, so they're not just fun and beautiful, but you can sleep easier after you make them.

Gorgeous! I tried this once...disaster. My kids could do better. These are beautiful!! (heavy sigh as I look down at the vinegar/dye eggs before me)

My sister does professional-grade pysanky. I'll be starting mine tonight, but they really don't compare.

I took a class in pysanky making once as a teenager. It's great fun, though I have no actual skill at it.

Every year I swear I'm going to try to do this. I never do, mind you...but every year, I see them and think "Wow, I wanna do *that*".

dejah420 -- go to your local Ukranian cultural centre and pick up a cheap set and do it! Along with pumpkin-carving, my favourite crafty thing to do. Up late burning and etching with beeswax -- feels like witchcraft. Having the eggs is nice, but making them is better! Oh, and look for "peewee" eggs in the supermarket this time of year. They look awesome when done up.
