A fine football story for the year... Oklahoma won the National Championship, and Penn State did not do so well, however the local hero walks out of the hospital to get on with the rest of his life. Granted the injury was a bruise and Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli saved his life, but my question is how long before we'll see the successful repair of spinal cord injuries? Will Christopher Reeve walk again?

You're asking the great unwashed masses?

The masses on MetaFilter wash regularly.

You used the wrong link for Christopher Reeve.

I don't know if Chris will ever walk again, but I am walking. In August of 1996, I was 17, climbing a tree, for an unknown reason, and fell out of it. I fell about 30 feet to the ground, where I broke my back. I had surgery to repair my spine. After writing this, I realize that there was no spinal cord injury, but they were able to delicately repair what was broke. I imagine that they will eventually be able to repair the spinal cord. After realizing there's no real relevance, I'll go ahead and push the post button.
