		<description>The Prokudin-Gorsky pictures are dazzling.  Essentially, he took black and white photos through red, blue, and yellow filters and then projected them on top of each other through the same filters.  The result is some incredibly vibrant colorful pictures of turn-of-the century rural Russain life.  Cool.</description>

This is a great post.  The hand colored glass slides are amazing, and things like the pictures of the prisoners in Bukhara are fabulous.
