Carcass Cutting Tools: three words you've been waiting to read. Here's three more: Pneumatic Bung Dropper (with action shot!) Still not satisfied? Try Automatic Carcass Splitter. Terrifying, and yet strangely arousing.

I'd meant to post this a while ago, but then I forgot all about the subject, until the recent posts on swine penis and tree shredders jogged my memory.

At first I thought it was a human corpse in the action shot linked above. That was very disturbing. (I don't know if it's because I'm color blind.)

Amazingly (or maybe not-so-amazingly), we've seen at least one of these before.

Just think, htere are people who's title is "Lung Gunner" or "Bung Dropper" or "Chicken Debeaker"... I just can't imagine doing that eight hours a day. I know there are worse jobs, but that's gotta be near the bottom.

Get out of town. I actually did a search before posting, but I used "sow bung" instead of "hog bung". Consider me schooled.

Well, it was before your time, Gamblor. The only reason I remembered it is, well, how could I forget?

That must be from back in that Golden Age of MetaFilter I keep reading about in MeTa.

And they're fast! "A single operator can bung up to 1200 hogs/hour". That's 3 seconds per bung, people!

Just imagine it:

Randy: Hey, Pete!
<BUNG!>
Pete: Yeah, Randy?
<BUNG!>
Randy: Ya'll wanna get some <BUNG!> beers and watch the <BUNG!> game after this shift? <BUNG!>
Pete: You betcha! I'm <BUNG!> rootin' for <BUNG!> the <BUNG!> ... <BUNG!> ... <BUNG!> ... dammit, this one's stuck!

This reminds me of a weekend I spent working on a friend's emu ranch outside of Dallas about eight years ago.

When we were finished butchering the emus, there were a half-dozen of these "donuts" lying around. It's odd how some things strike you as both hilarious and horrifying at the same time, you know?

That's ok, darkstar. Here, have a bung plug.

Pneumatic Bung Dropper == best heavy-metal band name in a while.

And sadly, I didn't need to click the link to figure out what it does, and how it does it.

This post may have single-handedly been the catharsis for me to return to full time vegetarianism. Seriously.

OH, Pollomacho. You haven't lived until you've drug a freshly decapitated, bled, and scalded chicken carcass across one of those puppies.

I think this might be a doublepost. Much of the finer points of the Jarvis catalog was making the rounds a few years ago.

But I'm not complaining, no sir! One can never have enough bung or lung guns around the house. Why, just last week a whole herd of pre-stunned cattle just fell right from the sky into our yard. Thank goodness I had enough bung guns to go around, or we'd still be drowning chin-deep in assholes.
