The Public Archives of Nova Scotia has some cool online exhibits. The original list of dead bodies recovered from the Titanic sinking caught my eye, they also have original log book pages from privateers, lighthouses, slavery and abolition, boats, boats, and more boats. [via]

Cooool. I went to an Acadian school in N.S., Tellurian. There are still quite a few Acadian communities going strong!

My direct ancestors were Swiss farmers who came over to Nova Scotia in 1753 in an effort by the British government to dilute the Acadian population in Nova Scotia. They settled the town of Lunenberg that year. There, they became shipbuilders and seafareres until my grandfather emigrated to the United States last century. In 2003, I went to the 250th anniversary of the Lunenberg settlement. I'm such a fan of Nova Scotia's history. Thanks for this.

If you are interested in the bodies recovered from the Titanic, take a look at this list. That's actual body descriptions - what they looked like, what they were wearing, what items were found on them. Some have names but a great many went unidentified.
