A bunch of videos of the great sui generis French band Magma, including what appears to be a complete performance of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh. Can't understand the lyrics? Try a Kobaian dictionary [cache].

I love this sci-fi plot in a Jon Anderson kind of way. posted by johngoren at 2:58 PM on April 23, 2006
Well, pmbuko, it's true that Vander was influenced by Orff and Coltrane a lot, and it's also true that they have a lot of followers, both offshoots (Paga, Zao, Wiedorje) and bands founded by others (Ruins, Eskaton, Bondage Fruit, Kultivator, et al.), but they really were quite original. posted by kenko at 3:01 PM on April 23, 2006
I really hope that the pianist's flaming tentacle-head costume in the 1978 video is a serious representation of Vander's vision of the future. posted by stemlot at 9:11 PM on April 23, 2006
