Then again, if you add things like fishing and bike riding to official presidential duties he can come up with "great moments" in his term of office.

I'm almost too discouraged, as a citizen of the US, to even get upset about any of this anymore. Could it be a strategy to simply wear us down with so much awfulness that we give up and go away?

Seriously. I hate the guy's guts, and I can think of at least a couple of answers that at least would have made sense: the overthrow of the Taliban, hearing that Hussein had been captured, hell, even watching his little girls graduate from college would have been an acceptable answer. This interview sounds like a Will Farrell sketch.

I find it telling (and rather flummoxing) that this "exclusive interview" is with a "newspaper" that has a whole watch blog dedicated to pointing out and correcting the many omissions, half-truths, errors in translations (!) and downright lies to be found in almost every issue. It's basically a tabloid that wants to dabble in journalism and constantly fails.

When the president of the world's most powerful, nuclear-armed military-industrial-prison democracy (yeah, that's what I said) can think of no finer moment in his entire term than catching a goddamn fish in a puddle behind his fake "ranch", it does merit comment, amazement, and derision. Thank you for the FPP. We let so many large stunners go by lately, that the little ones can sometimes be instructive. He never wanted to be president, this says loudly. Typical spoiled brat, now that everything's gone wrong, he's pretending he was never really trying.

Our "president" is a moron. God help us make it through to the impeachment hearings next winter.

That's odd, according to Wikipedia, the Yellow Perch can get up to 4.5 kg in weight (~10 lbs), though I admit I've never seen a perch anywhere near that size. My experience is only with Lake Erie, though, so they may grow much bigger without all that mercury and medical waste in the bloodstream.

Perhaps the Maryland website is evidence of a concerted effort by the right-wing noise machine to downplay the maximum size of the Yellow Perch in order to give Bush's poll numbers a boost.

As we elite, intellectual, nerdy, internet surfing swine mock Bush for being an uncultured pea-brain, you just know that there are millions of yokels out there thinking:

"Wow, how big was the fish? That is so cool."

This is, after all, why people voted for Bush. He's stupid and non-threatening and "down-homey". Kerry? Good Lord! He's got brains, speaks French, and has actually travelled the globe. What could be scarier than that?

People appreciate that which they understand -- themselves. And they are (mostly) stupid. Until intelligence is seen as something we need in a leader, expect more Bush-types to be voted into power.

(This being said, the Fishing Accomplished comment made me laugh out loud.)
