The documentary Sir No Sir! (embedded video) looks quite good ... I missed it when it was playing nearby, have to wait for it on Netflix. posted by bcveen at 8:56 PM on May 13, 2006
Yeah, it's good, but it is essentially an advertisment in disguise for the "Sir No Sir" documentary. posted by Effigy2000 at 9:27 PM on May 13, 2006
Wow! That first one was good, but who the H E L L gave that speech in the second one? That was incredible! Seriously, does anyone know who that was? WeWilllNotBeSilenced indeed! posted by slickvaguely at 10:37 PM on May 13, 2006
The technical production for both of those was fantastic.
True, the first one is really an ad for a documentary, but I'll be damned if they didn't do an excellent job of formatting the message. I also think the quality of a lot of the imagery suffered. The stock footage used wasn't that degraded.
The second one is simply incredible. I've read that speech online in the past few weeks, but I too have no clue who it was. The way the second one played with the visual medium in presenting and framing the words - subbing pictures, changing colors, and constantly moving things in innovative ways - was superb, and really does justice to making you notice the words and their meaning. I'd be surprised if the producer of that one didn't get an A+++ in some film classes. posted by mystyk at 11:16 PM on May 13, 2006
The speaker was Reverend Graylan Hagler, who also has some interesting things to say about Pat Robertson. posted by Astro Zombie at 11:20 PM on May 13, 2006
The Rev. Hagler speech was pretty impressive. I have a hunch that the producer has spent a little time in the demo-scene here and there... posted by anthill at 11:48 PM on May 13, 2006
thanks Astro Zombie!
Rev. Graylan Hagler, I'm on your team. posted by slickvaguely at 11:52 PM on May 13, 2006
I searched around a bit, and here's the (rather unpretentious) site for Hagler's church. And the man has a sweet OT beard ... posted by bcveen at 12:23 AM on May 14, 2006
Wow. That second one is incredible. Even though it happened last year, I didn't hear about Bush making fun of the WMD search until recently. It must have really pissed off a lot of people. Although I guess not enough for me to hear about it. posted by ODiV at 1:50 AM on May 14, 2006
