3D Logic Connect the colors on the cube

The usual: first few levels are easy, later ones are maddening. Just to be annoying, the colors change every time you play, so it's difficult to give hints.

I don't know; by level 12 it felt like it was just getting repetitive, not harder.

It starts to get a little harder around level 15, but the trick is the same in all of them, go around. Fun game.

If it weren't for the fact that other people have mentioned getting to levels 30 and higher, I'd think level 16 couldn't be done.

16's hurting my head

Yeah, I take it back, 16 has got me stumped right now.

I declare 16 to be impossible :)

Aww, now I'm mad I stopped at 13.

Cool game, but I got stuck on 12 :(

Cool game once you get used to the interface.

Level 17, but 16 took me several tries. Nice idea for a game, though. Just one remark: correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't the 3-D aspect just eye candy? If you mentally "flatten out" the three sides of the cube it becomes much easier, since there is no real wraparound involved.

Round 16 was a total, total bastard, but it can be done. Now for level 17 ...

... which was weirdly far easier.

Level 16 was a cinch.

Finished. 30 levels total. Nice waste of some Friday worktime.

A couple took a good 5 minutes for me but other (higher level) puzzles took seconds. I found ones that had blocks easier because it gave you a clue as to where you'd have to path. The all-open ones took longer.

Strangely 17, and 18 were both easier than 16. 19 was frustrating. I don't think I can face 20. That was fun, cheers for posting.

Took a break, but still can't do 16. Anyone have a hint?
posted by Bezbozhnik at 8:37 AM on June 2, 2006

Bezbozhnik: purple along the rightmost visible edge of the cube, blue along the left visible edge.

I'm not sure if the colors or faces are random, but for 16 the cluster of two close short distance paths (on the top) was the key. I had to connect them in a way that left maximum paths available.

Generally, in higher levels, look for the most obvious connection and then look for a very circuitous route to make the same connection.

Hyperframe was better, as it has various gameplay modes. Not sure if it was ever posted to MeFi. This looks like a crippled version (only one play mode) of the same game.

Argh... 16 is driving me crazy.
posted by dazed_one at 10:16 AM on June 2, 2006

Yeah, definitely strange that 16 seemed to be the hardest of the lot. To genericize sonofsamiam's hint above: the color that starts in the middle of the leftmost column on the right face needs to run along the leftmost edge of the cube, and the color that starts on the bottom row of the left face needs to run along the rightmost edge of the cube.

30!

Man. That was a good waste of half an hour. Once you get past 20 or so they do seem easier - either really are easier, or you've just become accustomed to thinking about things in the correct way.

ah thanks for the Hyperframe link eideteker, that's exactly what I thought of. Much better than this.

Arg. #16 was indeed difficult; I needed Bezbozhnik's hint.

(Thanks, by the way; I was about to lose hair over this.)

Jesus, I'm still stuck on 16. The two hints are not helping. "purple along the rightmost visible edge of the cube, blue along the left visible edge." ?? What happens to green?

hlep. plz.
posted by philosophistry at 5:32 PM on June 2, 2006

The colors change with every game, so that hint can be misleading. I posted a non-color-specific hint above.
posted by Bezbozhnik at 6:37 PM on June 2, 2006

Follow Bezbozhnik's hint above. Where s/he says, "the color that starts in the middle of the leftmost column on the right face needs to run along the leftmost edge of the cube", go:
Left 1
Up 1
Left 2
All the way down
All the way Left
Follow the edge

Spoiler: Level 16

The hints helped me, but then level 23 brought me to a grinding halt.
posted by dazed_one at 8:18 PM on June 2, 2006

This is indeed a ripoff of Hyperframe.
posted by Behemoth at 8:37 PM on June 2, 2006

Anyone who tells you they've done level 23 is a filthy liar.

God, Thank you Feisty. I go on with my life now. heh.
