Really great links. Love the derisive soundfiles in the third link:

"the streets throng with sad fat older European men. They are seeking paradise rocking on the hips of a rent-by-the-hour, the night, the week, sixteen year-old whose over-enthusiasm never quite disguises her desperation. Which is worse, that her chatup line is 'You very strong? You work out? No? You natural strong,' or that the aging oil company executive falls for it, and falls for it, and falls for it. If she loves him 'long time,' why is he only taking the room for an hour?"

The "For most of it I have no words" series is quite powerful, as well.

I hate Thailand and most of the westerners that go there.

Ever been? The popular tourist destinations are filled with sleaze and exploitation (this is to say nothing of the rest of the country, which is quite amazing), and neither the Thais nor the tourist do anything to improve the situation.

borkingchikapa - I can relate. But I’ve boiled it down to having a thing about humans in general. Or rather ‘ridden’ humans.
...long story.
I hate Vegas too.

Blue noon apples.

I loved Thailand the one time I got to go there. I didn't find it all that hard to avoid the sex tourism, but then again, if you're white-skinned almost any cab driver in Bangkok will try to drive you to a brothel/massage parlor/sex club.

Being a poor, dirty backpacker actually helped avoid unwanted attention of this sort. Getting south to some of the less inhabited islands even moreso. Most of the sex-trade down there is for natives, by natives.

Anyways, nice pics. I missed the moon party by two days (back in 95, when it was supposed to be real wild).

Then, please, don't come back.
