Frozen water is one amazing mineral. (Yes, that's right, mineral!) With a little effort, you can make fire with it. With a little more effort, you can make camera lenses with it. [via Memepool]

The camera lense thing is a dupe, and I suspect the fire thing is as well.

So “on the rocks” is appropriate.

I saw the fire from ice thing on mythbusters. Looks like it worked.
...someone should alert Pat Benatar.

Ummmm... and drinks.
You can make drinks with it.
That crystalized water thing.

can we just safely assume that if you read something on memepool, everybody else already knew about it and you're the last one to know?

there should be a memepool flag

Wait, slow down... my mind is still reeling from the whole "mineral" thing.

Note that you need to boil the water to clarify it before you make the lens to make the fire. With what shall I boil it, dear Liza, dear Liza?

Memepool is still up?

Yep. Memepool and kuro5hin are merging, forming a brand new portal, irrelevant.net or something. :(

The mineral thing sounds strange but hey, don't we melt rocks all the time at steel factories? And what's lava but liquid rocks?

What about drinking glasses made of ice? Or, more disturbingly, weapons?

What about drinking glasses made of ice?

In my teens I liked to use a partially frozen water balloon with a nice sized drinking hole cut out as a beer glass.

"Those are crappy pictures."

"Dude, those were taken with an ice lens."

"No way! Now they're brilliant!"

Hey! They did this on Mythbusters.

Nice thread title. Although I would have chosen:

It was a miracle of rare device,
A sunny pleasure-dome with caves of ice!

I can only assume the title was what saved it from the dustbin, DA. Even I marked it as a double. Either that, or people's minds were blown by water the mineral.
