Capitals are for the weak, and those shifty-eyed, shift-key-o-philes. Don't like 'em, don't trust 'em. posted by eurasian at 4:54 PM on June 8, 2006

Used to pump gas with Mr. Pierce waaaay back at a Unocal 76 at Beverly Glen and Sta. Monica, before either of us even owned a PC. Interwhat? I think it was Tony that changed a wheel on some ladies car, but forgot to reattach all the lugnuts; her wheel came off on the 405. So much for getting $5 tips doing quick fixits for people. Gladly, all the audio goodies I bought from him at Fred Rated have long since been retired. I wonder what happened to his battleship of a Cadillac? Don't live in Hell Lay no more, so I've become a stranger. Good job Pierce. posted by stonesy at 7:09 PM on June 8, 2006

Does one actually get paid to write for LAist? posted by cell divide at 7:45 PM on June 8, 2006
(I always read his name as Tsrfan. So imagine my surprise in seeing that he is referencing the band Tsar, a band that I saw booed offstage when they opened for Duran Duran a few years back. Yes, that's right, I have seen Duran Duran recently. And I'm comfortable with that.)
On topic: Congrats to you Tsarfan! posted by macadamiaranch at 8:15 PM on June 8, 2006
Great news, congrats to Tsarfan. So with dongresin running screenhead & tsarfan in at laist, Metafilter is slowly infiltrating the mainstream "blogging as career" media empires of Gawker, Gothamist, etc. posted by jonson at 8:41 PM on June 8, 2006

Sometimes I learn by chance that someone I knew (or at least knew of) from the greater blogowebospheronet is the same person as someone I knew (or at least knew of) from Metafilter, and my universes collide, Costanzically, and I don't know what's real anymore.

Congrats, I guess, but isn't word on the streets that it's a bit like being chained up next to the sealed weblog sweatshop exit doors grinding out posts for these network sites? Or did I dream that too? posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 12:00 AM on June 9, 2006
i plan on grinding out posts poolside and beachside and in as many ridiculously mythical places as possible. including sweatshops.
los angeles is a huge and exciting place. its hard for me to believe that it will be difficult to find some interesting tales to tell each day of our humble burg.
