If I just wanted to hear the voices from Family Guy ramble on, I'd, um, watch Family Guy. Plus, I didn't this this particular instance of McFarlane-backed rambling was all that impressive; I found that my eyes glazed over for most of the speech, only snapping back into focus when a line was stumbled over.

Hooray! Finally Family Guy takes a shot back at South Park. I agree with ~~Stewie~~ Seth. These days (namely, the latter seasons), being funny is an indulgence which South Park obviously considers itself well above.

Brian went to Brown, and was a college drop out. After failing to graduate after going back, he probably wanted to stay well clear of colleges for a while. Or, more likely, Seth didn't want to do Brian's voice because it would remind everyone just how much like his own voice Brian's is.

uosuaq: My calling the address not "all that impressive" has more to do with the fact that I expected it to be much better than it actually was, given that I really like Family Guy. They were on two close, but discrete, levels of quality (as danb noted). On reflection, though, I suppose it would be pretty cool, if not tremendously enlightening, to have my graduation address delivered by Quagmire, Peter, and Stewie. Anyone can say, "Congratulations, Class of 2006," but only one man can say it with giggity.

I don't think anything has yet come close to emulating the inspiring mixture of pathos and humor that was Conan O Brien's Harvard Commencement Speech. It's exactly the kind of talk you need on graduation, assuaging those private anxieties about the kind of identity you are going to carve out, and holyshit whatifyoufuckitup??

i think this speech, in each of its four parts, was written for a batch of inexperienced, horny young adults who, at least in the male component, would repeat some of the quotes to each other later and high-five. don't you think that's a good description of the audience?
