Futhermore, at 77 pixels to the inch, this page takes up 3.4e18 square miles and is 1.844 billion miles on a side-- an area roughly equivalent to a section of the plane of our Solar System with the sun at the center and the orbit of Saturn on the outside edge (a square 22 AU on a side). That's about 17 billion times the surface area of the Earth. I must be missing something obvious, but can someone explain to me how this page is 17 billion times the surface area of the Earth?

FWIW about the Bush/Brazilian joke, a few weeks ago, when I could only remember only the punchline, here's how I wrote the joke:

George W Bush and Dick Cheney are sitting next to each other like normal for the morning situation report. The handler comes in and starts the briefing. "Good morning, Mister President, Mister Vice President. It's been a rough 24 hours, so let me begin... Fourteen Americans were killed yesterday in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan," says the presenter. He looks at the two men, awaiting their reaction. The two leaders sit stone-faced. The presenter continues. "I have more bad news... 33 UN peacekeepers were slaughtered in Africa when their position was overrun by an angry mob of thousands." Again the Pres and the Vice sit calmly, unflinching. The presenter continues... "Finally, sirs, 16 Brazilian people were killed when anti-globalization riots turned violent." At this, George sits up quickly in his chair and proclaimed loudly, "Oh my God! That's terrible!" Cheney and the briefer look at Bush for a moment, suprised, until Bush leans over to Cheney and asks, "Uh, how many zeros does a Brazilian have in it again, Dick?"
