Playing with fractal generators can result in images that remind some of creatures in the natural world. Did you know that the nudibranch^ can be evocative of certain Julia-set fractals? Especially when you see them in motion. Be sure to check out the "scubadiving" and related YouTube tags for other deep-sea creatures. I especially liked this one.

WolfDaddy , Such a wonderful post. So glad it was salvaged, although I thought the original was likeable too.

The Flamenco Dancer nudi was incredible (I think it was Arabic music actually). And that scuba diving video was mind-boggling, a visual feast of extraordinary creatures I never knew existed.

I remember the first time I saw a fractal, at an IBM building exhibit in the lobby, here in NYC. I found out about the Mandelbrot set, saw what could be done with the graphics based on it. All of a sudden the marvelous geometry of nature made new intuitive visual sense to me, as well as the mysterious and charming similarities between things, like trees and synapses, cauliflower surfaces and treetop surfaces on mountainsides. It's exciting on many levels.

Thanks for sharing your discovery and enjoyment.

xod , The black sun in Denmark post was amazing. More please! An FPP?

xod, Thanks for the fracta bacteria, that was cool. But I want more about those amazing starling flights. I love it when they mass and flow like that, like schools of fish in space. Am going to Google more Black Sun in Denmark and see what's up with that, amazing.

pax digita, that fractal cauliflower blows my mind every time.

jockc, what a stunning and exceptionally beautiful collection of fractals you created! I love the sophisticated colors and sensuality of this one.

On beeling's recommendation I checked out the mechanical ones. Yes, they are so beautiful!
