Dean Kamen denies everything!

DEKA is currently working on several exciting projects. The book proposal referred to one. However, the leaked proposal quoted several prominent technology leaders out of context, without their doubts, risks and maybes included. This, together with spirited speculation about the unknown, has lead to expectations that are beyond whimsical. We have a promising project, but nothing of the earth shattering nature that people are conjuring up.

A breath of fresh air. He's cut through typical Steve Jobs hyperbole and introduced some rationality into the discussion. It's rare to find an honest man. (I guess I can put this lamp down now...)

Though one can't help but think perhaps he didn't want whatever project he is working on to get too hyped up, and disappoint. Which wouldn't be so much honest as covering one's back . . .

Huh, you know, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed, it's not like earth shaking inventions bigger than the pc and internet are announced. Hmm.. still, I'd be up for a jetpack or a unicycle.

Btw, so Steve Jobs and all those other people did indeed see 'IT' and said all those things? Hmm, makes sense if imac is the fastest gaming system EVER. Sure.

Talk about a fly-by-night website though - wow. To take a young zeitgeist like this and get a domain up and content aggregated so fast is really something. I'm not thrilled with the content, mind you - just the speed of getting it up and out from someone wholly unrelated to the issue.

It's a disposable website, which will be dated in weeks if not months. -- Makes me wonder about the other disposables out there, like movie sites with painful urls ("antitrustthemovie.com"). How many of these ghost ships still sail around the web. But I digress (massively).

The hype on this astonished even me. I could understand Slashdot and Metafilter going a bit crazy, but there were discussion forums at ABCNews.com and MSNBC, fercripesake. And the local FOX news affiliate has been promoing the 9pm newscast with "Mysterious inventor denies Ginger rumors". Really.

It made the front page of the Pioneer Press in the Twin Cities, which I thought was impressive. I'd like to announce my new intention, called "THE". I can't tell you what it is, but my neighbor, who is noted in the community, said that "THE will make toast better than anything els"...
