That list leaves out the most important reason for the shortfall: Guys don't want a job that requires them to spend the rest of their lives celibate and alone (in the romantic sense). There's quite a large movement in the US Catholic Church to get the Pope to allow priests to date and marry, but that's not going to happen as long as JPII is running things, and probably not for a long time afterwards.

[By the way, this isn't meant to denigrate the Church; I hope I'm not trodding on anyone's toes. I just thought it interesting that the Catholics would use a web page for recruitment. But they're still not selling indulgences online.
