Dallasfood.org is home to some excellent food journalism. The author mostly reviews BBQ joints around the Dallas area. There are some additional features, such as the (currently in-progress) review of 50 chicken-fried steaks, counted down from worst to best.

The man eats a lot of Q. And it looks like he has brisket, sausage and ribs every time he sits down.

I like good Q as much as the next guy, but I think he needs to eat a green fuckin' vegetable every so often.

Hey! I like Sonny Bryan's! Ooooh... *shakes fist*

But then, I always get the chopped beef sandwich and their fairly ridiculous onion rings, so...

Hm.. I live in Dallas but usually can only afford the dollar menu at Wendy's. Not much barbeque there. I've heard of great barbeque places around town but only remember going to places like Colter's or Spring Creek. Great barbeque, but not worth a front page post at MeFi. Probably not the best barbeque on the planet, though I'm sure some Dallasites would so boast. Some Dallasites would boast we have the best everything here. Some Dallasites are rather disturbed individuals. This is where a president got shot after all. We're crazy down here.

Chicken fried steaks gimme the heebie jeebies. Dunno why.

Great post! Though the specialized locale probably contributed to the lack of interest. As I dug a little deeper I realized that there were a number of reports from outside of Dallas as well.

thanks!

It's nice to see some good Dallas restaurant reviews. There is certainly a bit of dearth in that arena in Dallas. The design of dallasfood.org's website is a bit unfortunate. Simple things like hyperlinks from the titles would make a huge difference.

Hey, this is a great post for those of us in TX. Thank you for this, rxrfrx.

Central Texans should take the time to dig deeper here to his reviews of Llano, Lockhart, Lulig, Taylor, Marble Falls, Elgin, and Spicewood BBQ joints.

Also recommended to my DFW friends is his review of every Tex Mex joint on Maple Ave. I've eaten at many of them, and his reviews are spot on. Also, he is correct in that Avila's is fantastic.

Okay, I give up. Is there any intelligible index to this sight or do you have to just click, click, click some more until you find what you're looking for?

I mean I would love to take the time to dig deeper here to his reviews of Llano, Lockhart, Lulig, Taylor, Marble Falls, Elgin, and Spicewood BBQ joints, but is it just go through the entries until you find the right stuff?

By the way, for my money, Cooper's in Llano is #1; Cousins, Railhead & Angelo's are good in Fort Worth.
