I really enjoyed this - thanks for the link - but there is a small part of me that can never see footage on this subject from this era without thinking of Look Around You's I'm Rappin... posted by greycap at 1:39 PM on July 10, 2006
This weekend I listened to part one of the audio companion to Can't Stop Won't Stop on Chicago Public Radio. They crammed a lot of deep history in an hour-long show, with a lot of great music to boot. Part two is next Saturday at 8:00 pm Central time. Non-Chicagoans can get it via live audio stream, or keep watching this space to see if they add it to their audio archives. posted by hydrophonic at 1:56 PM on July 10, 2006

Greycap please tell me that was a joke? A profiterole chef? That is just too funny. posted by vronsky at 2:31 PM on July 10, 2006
Goodness, I remember my unbelievably cool babysitter showing me and my sister this then teaching us to breakdance.

Yeah Jack-mo, for about two seconds I must admit I did. But I am an idiot. posted by vronsky at 4:50 PM on July 10, 2006
To be fair, I'd probably be suckered by a US equivalent to Look Around You for a minute or more - a lot of the little cues that it's a spoof must be culturally specific. (And vice versa - the first time I saw heard a clip of some genuine right-wing shock jock on MetaFilter I just assumed it was a spoof, and was stunned to find that whoever it was was real.) posted by jack_mo at 5:12 AM on July 11, 2006
