It's a good thing the military already puts mindless homophobes in the front line, huh? I'm glad they don't let personal feelings get in the way of that. posted by billybunny at 1:29 AM on January 17, 2001
My father served in the US Army for 27 years and his sex life never came into question. Why should a gay man's simply because he's not in the "norm"? Whats the difference between a gay person serving with honor and doing their job above and beyond the call of duty and a heterosexual? The job is getting done. The country is being protected. And the military is not compromised because of someone's sexual orentation. posted by Princess Buttercup at 5:08 AM on January 17, 2001
Buttercup: Exactly. Who I share my bed with has no bearing on my ability to heartlessly shoot and kill my fellow man.
Of course, there's the morale issue. I know the fact that these big, tough, macho guys can't handle the thought of another guy checking out their ass certainly lowers *my* morale.
It's a moot point for me anyway, though, since I have no interest in risking my life defending this nation. posted by CrayDrygu at 4:41 PM on January 17, 2001
Furthermore , I think that sodomites should be accepted into the US military and put in the honored position of 'front line' of battle .
