Well, according to dict.org, "accition" isn't a real word...

Lots of google results, but they're all typos for "action", "addition", "addiction".

Stupid mumblefrumblegrumble :(
posted by Chunder at 6:39 AM on July 20, 2006

chunder, you just answered your own frustration. you're stuck on word association, which it actually isn't. meanwhile, i'm stuck on the one *after* accition.

posted by timory at 7:00 AM on July 20, 2006

it's not cheating - some of the answers are impossible without using Google results. I believe it's part of the game.

You're not googling to find someone who posted the answers...

Up to "pacman". Don't ignore obvious answers.

now i'm stuck at india... not sure how googling will help but i'll figure it out eventually.

You'll get there...Any ideas for "Donkey" for the letter 'T'?
posted by FeldBum at 7:32 AM on July 20, 2006

There are a couple of very unsatisfying ones. J->K requires such trivial knowledge or Googling that it seems out of place. S->T makes vague sense, but it doesn't seem right.

me, i think i'm halfway to solving bAdTOO, but i might need a push. or else it might be time to give up.
posted by timory at 8:50 AM on July 20, 2006

Yeah, bAdOOT means nothing to me, and how that relates to the p->q link is way beyond me. Argh.

msali,

UKnowForKids: TOObAd?
posted by mdonley at 9:25 AM on July 20, 2006

Thanks, mdonley, I thought of that but didn't even bother trying it. Still don't get how it relates to 'q' though.
posted by UKnowForKids at 9:27 AM on July 20, 2006

I'm stuck on NOvocain too. Is the answer a real word?
posted by coffeespoons at 9:30 AM on July 20, 2006

It is, coffeespoons. The above hint about the relation between the two capitalized letters should help you. The same relation holds true for the answer.

Also, "Quality Assurance"? Help pls! kthxbai!
posted by UKnowForKids at 9:32 AM on July 20, 2006

Maybe it's some sort of mirror image type thing? A lowercase p backwards looks a lot like a lowercase q, especially in this Metafilter font: p q
posted by mdonley at 9:35 AM on July 20, 2006

Ah, that's it. I am teh stupid. Still, Quality Assurance... WTF mate?
posted by UKnowForKids at 9:36 AM on July 20, 2006

J->K was stupid.
posted by jefbla at 9:39 AM on July 20, 2006

Oh, mdonley, if you're still stuck on jeremiah, try Wikipedia. There's more than one Jeremiah listed on there.
posted by UKnowForKids at 9:46 AM on July 20, 2006

I still don't get off for g! I don't get your hint UKnowForKids. I am feeling quite stupid
posted by msali at 9:52 AM on July 20, 2006

Got it thanks, tough one that!
posted by TwoWordReview at 9:56 AM on July 20, 2006

Well, 'off' represents the letter 'f'. Think of a word with 'g's in the same places as the 'f's in 'off.'
posted by UKnowForKids at 9:57 AM on July 20, 2006

Thanks UKnowForKids, finally got it, but I think I have to stop this, I am going to give myself an attack of some sort if I continue. This is exactly the sort of thing that will put me over a hedge.

posted by coffeespoons at 10:45 AM on July 20, 2006

wait - I got ampersand, which was obvious eventually, but I thought it was supposed to be an N letter? I mean, I know 'n is used as & but still......grumble grumble grumble.
posted by CunningLinguist at 11:54 AM on July 20, 2006

Thanks, mdonley, I thought of that but didn't even bother trying it. Still don't get how it relates to 'q' though.

p and q are mirror images...
posted by FeldBum at 12:07 PM on July 20, 2006

Hmmn. Deeply addictive, but kind of unsatisfying in that for lots of them, you can just keep trying vaguely likely stuff until you get it, whereas others are super-specific and require obscure knowledge. I mean, the who the fuck would get to the one beginning with 'k' without cheating?

Now, to get past that bloody donkey.

*quite a long time later*

Bastards! After a hard clue they trick you into wasting ages on four simple ones!

Hey ho, finished now. Maybe I should go back to 1.html now.
posted by jack_mo at 12:10 PM on July 20, 2006

It's cute but it's very uneven: some are very easy, some are excruciatingly obscure. Digg has all the answers (so spoiler alert).
posted by goodnewsfortheinsane at 4:09 PM on July 20, 2006

Can I just say - case sensitivity - really irritating.
posted by Smedleyman at 4:14 PM on July 20, 2006

The problem here is that most answers are arbitrary, and not especially elegant. With a good puzzle there is only one that fits properly, and you know without looking at the answers when you've got it: 26 = L of the A, or 18 = H on a G C.
