Just in case anyone was wondering:
This module is written as a self-contained introduction to e, bringing together the main theorems and important properties of this fundamental constant of natural growth processes. Not only is an axiomatic treatment given but this is complemented by some theorems that have been selected for their unexpected beauty.
It's 32 pages long, and utterly incomprehensible to me.

I clicked it, looked it over, and decided it was performance art. However, the punch line at the very end could possibly be salvaged as a tagline -- "So much for sustainable interest rates and economies being an exact SCIENCE!"

e is plenty interesting, but that article didn't reveal anything you might learn in freshman calculus. Without e we wouldn't have compound interest, exponential population growth, and there wouldn't be a game called Half-Life.
Also, no less than Richard Feynman said that the equation e^(i*pi) = -1 is the most beautiful equation in all mathematics.

Damn it, I decided I wasn't commenting in the blue anymore. And breaking that resolution that for a mischief FPP hurts. And if mischief posted this to snark or make a point, I'm a dumbass, and it went right over my head.
But this was a damned good FPP, and I'd like to see more like it.

I learned something from this post. I learned, specifically, that Richard Feynman won the Noble Prize. I knew about that other prize, but not the Noble. I wonder how much he got for that one.

It seems like a decent paper on e, but it's full of stuff I already know. An odd FPP, but whatever. There should be more math on MeFi.
ei π + 1 = 0 is the most beautiful equation in mathematics. It's got the two most important integers: 0 and 1. It's got the two most important irrational numbers: e and π. It's got the foundation of complex numbers, i. And their all in one nice package.
'Nuff said. The MAA doesn't use that as their logo for no reason.
(But you have to write it that way, not equal to -1, jeez. ;-)
