We watched this at work yesterday and had heart attacks laughing when Vader started staring down the officer.

"Go ahead, say something. Heh. Heh."

Much better than I expected it to be, actually. Good use of reaction shots (on the part of the general, obviously).

That's funny? Why?

Different folks and all, but it reminds me a bit of the whole Dr. Evil-telling-Scott-to-be-quiet routine. There's just something funny about someone earnestly trying to say something and constantly getting shot down.

And then there's the Vader calls Palpatine video.

Too bad they had to use General Veers and Captain / Admiral Piett both for the reaction shots. (neerrrrrd)

Funny, but not as funny as the subject of this earlier post. That pretty much sets the high water mark of star wars humour for me.

The last reaction shot, that is what kills me every time. It's great editing -- especially when you note that the dude had to use the existing film cut, it's not like he had spare or extra footage to rely on.
posted by cavalier at 4:59 AM on August 4, 2006

However, I still don't understand why this clip has made it through the rounds so far referencing 'binarybonsai.com' -- I mean, lucky him for having google ads and everything, but this could have been served just by the direct youtube link?

Does someone want to clue me in as to why there's been this MASSIVE surge of Darth Vader parody videos in the last few weeks? Most of them have been awesome (tally up another vote for Vader sessions as Quite Possibly The Greatest Thing Ever), but seriously... WTF? Why NOW, well after Episode 3?

Not bad. Reminds me a bit of the Hooray for Captain Spaulding song in the Marx Brothers' Animal Crackers.

The Vader Sessions remains unchallenged though.

"Why NOW, well after Episode 3?"

Because now, with no more impending prequels, we can all pretend that the original three movies are Star Wars, full stop.

There's pretty much a guarantee that all youtube videos involving star wars will garner at least 40 comments, half of them variables of LOL.

This comment is just the obligatory explanation of the above statement, thank you.

Why is it so hard to imagine that some "best of the web" thing-a-ma-bobs will continue to come in the form of online videos, and that some of those online videos will be hosted on a free, easy-to-use, and highly-efficient hosting service called YouTube?

Get the fuck over it already people. Jesus.

mkultra writes "Thanks for linking yet another YouTube video, too. I NEVER would have found it otherwise..."

Well, yes. There's an incredible amount of stuff on YouTube. Going through YouTube to find good stuff can be an incredibly difficult endeavor. In fact, that's the situation with the whole internet: there's tons of shit out there, and so it's hard to find the good stuff. So this guy named Matt made a site which is all about filtering the internet, finding the good stuff and pointing it out to people. So if there's something good on YouTube, for example, his site would filter it out from the bad stuff and people would see it.

So: Thanks for linking to another YouTube video. I never would have found it otherwise.

Why NOW, well after Episode 3?

The people are reclaiming the original Vader they know and love from the ridiculous monstrosity Lucas tried to foist upon them in Episodes 1-3.
