Use the badly named Tglo to call any phone in the USA for free, and to SMS anyone in the world (maybe) for free.

Can't you do that with skype, for free, and thereby not have to try to figure out how to pronounce 'tglo'? (My guess is they just found the first free four-letter .com available. Names are hard.)

OK, I'm told that Americans can call Americans for free on Skype. I'm in Britain, and it costs money for me to call America on Skype, whereas it doesn't on Tglo.

It says no spyware or adware, yet when you install it and make a call with it, it pops up ads. They also have a McAfee SiteAdvisor logo, implying that their software is safe, yet when you try to install it, McAfee Antivirus will give you warnings about adware being installed.

tglo is just a shortened version of The Globe which apparently is the media conglomerate that owns the website.

It shows a non-animated pop-up ad when you make a call, and while you have the program loaded it gives IE a toolbar. You can exit the program easily and it doesn't load on startup. I don't regard it as malevolent, although obviously there's no reason for Americans to use it.

...aaaaaand storybored beat me to it. four hours earlier. whoops. And sadly you're also both wrong. As has been pointed out further up the thread that Skype offer isn't open to most people. I don't think I'll use Tglo since it looks kind of untrustworthy, it's the only service I've seen that would let me make free calls to the U.S. though.
