NewsFilter: Castro Alive and kickin' it old school. The Cuban media has released some pictures of Castro alive and well. This is actually the first time I've ever seen him not wearing military garb.

I've seen Dear Leader in all kinds of garb...suits, etc...but this is the first time I've seen him pimpin' for Adidas!

In other news, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Damn... I was hoping for a full-body shot to check out his adidas shell-toes.

...and it's a Wigan Rugby League shirt, nice.

Err, one of the pics on the wonkette page is photoshoped, the NYT has the original.

I love the adidas outfit. Adidas is one of the worst large label sweatshop abusers. Does this joke of a man stand for anything? Has he ever? Who knows. Here in hell, Satan says "Prostate cancer. Expect him October 18th."

He was wearing suit and tie when he spoke at the U.N.

Looked like a stockbroker.

this strategy of waiting for 50 years until the man dies of old age is pretty fucking awesome; and yes, unless he's a vampire, he'll probably die sooner or later.

then, when he finally does die, we'll see the usual suspects doing the usual cheering for the great American victory against the tyrant. sometimes facha shamelessness is so dumb that it becomes almost endearing

Yeah, he cleans up real nice in a suit and tie. I always thought the military uniform was a little out of place; I'd prefer to see him dress in 3rd-world-quality slacks and short-sleeve sport shirt like anybody else. But the sports/lounge look works OK. Just so long as he never loses the beard....it's really him.

You know what this thread needs? A link to a cutout dress-up Castro! I wish my Photoshop skills were up to the drill....

If anyone is wondering about the handwritten note to "Rene, Antonio, Gerardo, Fernando, Ramon" referenced in the 2nd link, google "the Cuban Five". Every source on the topic of these 5 men is horribly biased, so try and read a few different sources. There are little proganda shrines to them all over the place in Cuba. Kiosks in hotel lobbies and murals near major roads, that kind of thing. It appears to me that they're a major plank of the current anti-USA propaganda in Cuba.

When will he just die? I know it's bad to wish people dead, but he is just bad because eveyone says so. I like to support my local native americans and go to the local casino, but I would like to be able to see one with palm trees. Also, pineapples cost too much so it would be nice for us to have some land to grow them and cheap labor to pick them. The cubans would be excited for this-- if they were a nice American fruit-picking colony they could have free elections because Diebold could come in, and they all drive old cars, but the really industrious cubans could rise to be overseers of the plantations and maybe they could by some modern, mid-priced American sedans. I have a Saturn and I'll bet that cubans would really like them.

from the header of the link: "This blog is: right-wing, pro-U.S., pro-free-market, pro-israel, anti-islamist, secularist and pro-democracy"

And the Egg Council says there is no correlation between eating eggs and increased serum cholesterol. You know, for your own good so you can enjoy delicious eggs without worry. No agenda.

Says a fellow who, I am quite sure, has stood solely for not fighting a guerilla war, not expelling corporate overlords, not running a country.

Gosh, your criticisms just nailed Castro's ass to the wall. Good on you!
