You may have your own set of acquired tastes, but what of acquired F.E.A.R.? The multiplayer component of Monolith's latest LithTek powered franchise has been overhauled and released into the wild - without a price tag in sight. If you've been known to enjoy a bit of the old simulated ultra violence you'll feel right at home among the frenetic emergence of automatic weapon fire and the spectre of the unarmed takedown.

After jumping through a few hoops to snag your free key, you'll find yourself to be a scant two gigabytes away from acquiring your own copy of F.E.A.R:COMBAT! Pepsi Blue a side, I know the inner gamer in you is crying out for limb-rending automatic-shotgun fueled chaos on the cheap.

I like free games. I don't think, however, that they will glean much marketing information of substance from Mr. Haha That'sgonnahappen of Yougottabekiddingme, NY.

Anyone played it yet? I thought the single player version of FEAR was a first rate mindless shooter, but multiplayer didn't really add anything to the genre.

FEAR creeped the crap out of me pretty good, but...

FFS, this FPP tastes like Pepsi Blue Bukkakke

-- you could have at least crafted some links to some other free multiplayer games, especially competing ones. Maybe even a caveat about 'free' games. Nevertheless, I'll give FC a try.

Well, I just signed up, and got my cd key instantly. I remember some fun and frenetic fragging with the demo of this game, so hey, pretty sweet...

Not only that, it's a great way to expand it's user base for multi-player (giving the the paid users more people to kill, no doubt) while advertising the full game very effectively. I hope this experiment works out well and we see lots more of this.

Too bad my gfx card probably won't play this.

Worth the 2GB download?

I remember when Natural Selection and Wolfenstein: ET were publicly released as multiplayer games. Spent many months in relative isolation playing those freebies.

people must be interested. Link is toast.

Well, the multiplayer that game with the original game was definitely the crappy part of an otherwise gorgeous package but mainly because it offered nothing new or interesting, just typical deathmatch madness, minus the sexy atmosphere of the single-player campaign (which is absolutely amazing and worth buying this game for). However, it's still a great game engine and a good way to waste some time.

Here's the torrent, if anyone's interested...

Cry a little harder, Extopalopaketle - make sure to put your tears in bold or else I won't be able to hear them fall.

It's fucking free.

...you could have at least crafted some links to some other free multiplayer games TCP/IP Client for Doom 2, especially competing ones.

What are you talking about? It's a recent commercial product that now has a free standalone component - what other competing franchises are there in that territory from the FPS market? ET doesn't count, it's single player portion was scrapped making it entirely free from the beginning.

Scam? I can't roll my eyes hard enough - as Skorgu notes above: I like free games. I don't think, however, that they will glean much marketing information of substance from Mr. Haha That'sgonnahappen of Yougottabekiddingme, NY.

How was your Google search link relevant to your applied "caveat"? A few retarded one line sentences on random forums? I sure threw caution to the wind making this leap of faith, huh?

I could have made a post about Sauerbraten, Nexuiz, Warsow, or War Rock, but I didn't. You're free to try.

Too bad my gfx card probably won't play this.

I've seen it run on a Radeon 9600 on low settings, looks about like Quakeworld at that point but it is playable.
