Some tributes to Syd Barrett are good, some bad. But man, what a trip. Still, there was no reason to stalk him.

Most stalker video footage is out of focus, with poor lighting. Usually no soundtrack, either, unless you throw in some police sirens. So, on the whole, I have to say this is a pretty decent job.

David Gilmour is playing here tomorrow night. And Roger Waters is in the country for the premiere of his opera tonight. Do you suppose they are planning to play together?

Apparently some of Syd's things are going to be up for auction, including his bike. I am not sure if it has a basket or a bell that rings, but I bet you can ride it if you like.

The tribute from the good link was pretty good, although I'm surprised they used a bootleg version of Dark Globe instead of the version on Madcap Laughs.

And the stalker link was pretty damn creepy, what with the slow-motion film and the scary music and all. I kept expecting it to end with a big, fat PSA - "Kids, don't start a popular British pop band and take excessive amounts of LSD. Please, just don't do it."

R.E.M. did a cover version of Dark Globe included as a flexidisc with an issue of Sassy magazine.

The bass player in my band wants us to do a cover of Octopus, so I spent some time last weekend working out the chords. The song is catchy as hell, but the song structure is all over the place-- the exact opposite of what you'd normally do if you're trying to write something catchy. The man was definitely talented.
