When they redo America: Freedom to Facism as a pro-taxation message....then I'll send love their way. posted by rough ashlar at 12:26 PM on August 25, 2006
I just watched the Garden State mashup and it's incredible what a thumping, crescendoing orchestral soundtrack will do to a trailer. I suppose it's the same as introducing a sci-fi film, or an art movie about seventeenth century Europe, with a booming voice saying "It is a period of civil war..." Makes you wonder what the scope for a non-formulaic trailer might be, and whether it would even sell the film given how conditioned we are to accepting certain genres. posted by greycap at 2:45 PM on August 25, 2006
watching these again just made me realize how great Shining was and how "2nd rate imitation" everything since has seemed to me. It's hard to overestimate the importance of a great, original idea. posted by jonson at 9:08 PM on August 25, 2006
