I'd rather see a battle royale between obnoxious rightwing bloggers and annoying leftwing bloggers. But then 90% of the Internet would be destroyed. Interesting fact: It's been over...9 months now since I have read any "obnoxious rightwing" or "annoying leftwing" blogs. And I feel all the better for it. I now feel, in my own mind, that political blogs are done. A lost cause. Some minor, dark, grubby corner of the internet that's stuck in its own useless feedback loop, and it's actually quite easy to shut the door and step away from it. Sure, from the inside you're changing the world, man! Manufacturing dissent! Shaping the cultural dialogue! Arguing passionately about photoshopped clouds of smoke! The New New-Journalism! But come on. Step away from the keyboards, people. Try it some time. Relax in the warm, mellow glow that you no longer give a shit what Charles Johnson thinks about something. It's easy, no matter which side of the political spectrum you land on. There's actually more to the internet than boring, talk-radio-wannabe wankers.
