It is indeed French, and it's highly illegal. It's pretty great but personally I find the bitrate of a lot of the music unlistenable, and the tags are half wrong.

Someone created a flash front end to their pirated music. Awesome! It's buggy -- the first 10 or so songs on my playlist all display on one line over each other. The variety of file names for identical songs implies that the content has been gathered from, shall we say, "random internet sources". This is going to fall faster than Metallica's cred did. But, it's damn fun to use though. Speaking of Metallica, check out an acappela version of Creeping Death.

Thanks isopraxis! Dokka is many flavors of genius. I'm listening to his myspace page now. Tasty. OK, now I've stopped. I find it hard to listen to for any length of time (which is true about listening to most of the "geniuses" I know...) Hiyooo! Getting back on topic, when I created a playlist (trying to create a Guitar Hero soundtrack...) I was given two options for creating the playlist: public or private. But I haven't been able to find any other playlists. Any ideas? @defenestration: If blogmusik isn't hosting the mp3s, then it's doing an amazing job. I've experienced almost no delays between clicking on a song and hearing music. Webjay is a useful site that creates playlists based on media from other websites. I've noticed "random" sources can be pretty slow sometimes.

I do not have synesthesia. But, I do have a habit of abusing language. After playing around with Blogmusik, I find Webjay more practical. It's just so much easier to pick other people's playlists. (Also, the music quality is noticeably better.) But if I'm jonesing for a particular song, Blogmusik may be my new first stop. (Replacing youtube as the immediate source to answer "how did that go again?")

If they're not hosting the mp3 files themselves it's definitely less illegal than if they were hosting them themselves. But if that's actually the case, then isn't this kind of lame? Whatever happened to respecting people's bandwidth? This feels like it's essentially the same as hotlinking.

Hearing a song on the radio and downloading the song (for repeated listening at any time you like) are inherently different. On the radio you're hearing it. When you download it you're owning it. If it happens to be an artist sanctioned download (giveaway), fine. If not, it's, well, theft.

Oooh, getting all semantic on me, klang. Very impressive. But copyright infringement is, simply, a kind of theft. And actually, a more accurate definition of copyright infringement is when a person or business entity uses someone else's idea, image, too-similar brand name, whatever, for personal economic gain. I'd get into some examples, but, actually, I've got better things to do. You seem like an inteligent person, generally, (I've enjoyed many of your posts in the past) so you can explore it further should you have the time. And there were no "analogies", strained or otherwise, employed in my previous comment: just definitions. And whetever the hell the home game is, I didn't download it.
