(Of course metafilter has persistent annoying javascript bugs too, if you view it in IE. I always wonder if the fact it's not been tested in IE is some rather silly way of "sticking it to The Man".)

You have to see his show on Austin Public Access to understand. If you get the chance to see it you will understand that he is psycotic or at least that is the impression you get from the end product.

Incidentally, a google search for 'welcome to my webpage' appears to be a good way to delve into such delights.

I don't get it. Why is he supposed to be crazy? Because he has a badly designed web site? I suspect he enjoys the retro/weirdo vibe. Judging by his video "Bill Clinton, Beloved of Jesus," he's a funny guy (who does a great charismatic-preacher imitation) with perfectly sensible things to say (Bill Clinton prevented more abortions than the entire Republican Party)—he just enjoys saying them in a wild-and-crazy way. I got more of a kick out of him than out of many of the more technically proficient sites posted here.

Because they have the important mission to spread their very urgent paranoid message to the world, and things like aesthetics are distractions. Because they have confused minds, and their sites are a visual representation of what's going on inside. Because they have long rejected the yoke of conformity to what normal people do, admire, value. Because their craziness cuts them off from the social and professional networks that might help them learn how make better sites. Because they don't have the resources or the inclination, being suspicious of others, to have a professional do it for them. Because learning new methods of web design is very difficult with the voices yammering on endlessly in your head.

I see him now and then when I flip through public access here in Austin. It's kind of nice having a lefty crazy guy to counterbalance all the right-wing conspiracy theorists (though they're always more entertaining). Mostly from what I've seen, Perry Logan just spends his time picking apart what Alex Jones has to say, as if he's some kind of influential person or something.
Still, if he is crazy, he's not a hateful sort of crazy like his right-wing analogues, which is to his credit.
