Sorry if the post is bad, but getting the news out is more important than form.

Eight states and only 50 people? Isn't that kind of lame?

Authorities have confirmed that the man, who had been admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, did have grotesquely swollen forearms, squinty eyes, and an abnormally huge cleft chin as reported earlier, but that the man's unusual physigonomy was not symptomatic of E. Coli poisoning."

I guess you weren't planning to eat fresh spinach tonight.

I didn't know E. Coli could kill you. Don't we all have it in our bodies already?

We do all have E. coli in our bodies. This is a specific form of E. coli known as E. coli O157H7. You may remember the Jack in the Box outbreak that occured in the 90's that killed some children. This is the same form of the bacteria that caused that outbreak.

most e. coli is good e. coli. however, some strains are deadly, but not very many.

People who eat bagged lettuce and spinach without first washing it are just asking for trouble, this crisis or no. Wash your greens. Get a salad spinner.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying that the cure for infected e. coli bagged spinach is ...a salad spinner?

A friend who spent the summers working in a blueberry field once told me that she couldn't bring herself to eat them, and warned me to wash very carefully. It seems, you see, that there are no bathrooms around out there.

This is an intersting precedent. But OK - I'll bite.

Some guy took a shit under the bridge downtown and got ticketed, so take note.

Oh, and...

There is a bag of lettuce and spinach leaves in my fridge, waiting to be used in soups, salads, and perhaps even salsas.

I did not realize it was so possibly a bag of SICKNESS and DEATH.

Though I generally do wash these things. I'm just not sure how carefully one must generally wash.

Evidently someone discovered the benefits of wiping one's bunghole with sweet, cool, soft spinach.

So refreshing!

[just throw it in those bags over there when yer done...]

Also in addition to being inappropriate, the headline for this post initially gave me the impression that the bacteria itself was spreading via the LA Times, which is admittedly a pretty shitty paper, but honestly...
