annoyed by algorithms? finetune radio lets you create your own station and choose the tracks

But, assuming this description is accurate, in what way is picking all the songs yourself like radio?

Last.fm and co at least try to replicate the serendipity of radio where you hear songs which are new to you.

This sounds like all the work of planning without any of the cultural benefits. To me, anyway.

I agree with genghis. "Creating your own station and choosing the tracks" used to be called "playing CDs in your stereo".

Yeah, what genghis said. I'd love to use this, but I can't because of crappy design choices.

'scuse me, I have to go kick a puppy and steal from poor people.

well you could use their 'similar artist' or tag radio i guess but what i got into was making playlists of songs to share with friends/people-online, sorta like a mixtape for the web

I like it, and will use it, but I have to say, I like Pandora a little better. It has introduced me to countless new songs that I grew to love.

This site is a little clumsy, though as I said, I will try it. My Frank Zappa station turned out quite well!

Thanks for posting!!

To date I've been happy with a mix of Pandora and the excellent MeFi Music playlists but I really like FineTunes - thank you for the link, petsounds!

Thanks petsounds. I agree this is not like listening to the radio. It's more like "I'm the DJ at my college radio station."

gave it a shot but I think Pandora is just plain better for the types of music I like.
