Legistorm --find out what our employees' staffers make in Congress. Here are Frist's 50 staff members and their salaries -- the site's searchable by Senator, Rep, office, and State.
This post was deleted for the following reason: we have seen this before
Read the fine print. "Displaying salaries for time period: 10/01/05 - 03/31/06." That's six months, not their annual salary. And it surely doesn't include all the perks, honoraria, emoluments, and other stuff that they get under the table.

I second damn dirty ape's sentiment. Heck, I make more than nearly all of them and I'm allegedly lower class.

Oh, well, now that blucevalo has clarified this, I now make less than most of them. Carry on!

I saw this a couple of weeks ago, and sent a link to a congressional staffer I know...her response was, the data is "woefully out of date", that she had received two promotions and a raise since those figures. She also noted that it was a bit odd to have all her income information out there on the net.

Is there some reason for the regularity of the salaries?
Every Senator I checked had the Chief of Staff as the highest paid, making between $140-160k a year.

Do staffers get the same health care benefits that congress people get? They have the best health coverage in the nation. But can't pass a healh bill for those who pay for their coverage

With exception of party heads/whips/etc., I'd guess most Congressmen get the same standard salary and budget for their office.
Senate office budgets depend on state population.
I could ask friends who work for the House one way or another, but I'd wager that it's just a market price that's been set over time. Chiefs of Staff just cost about $150 is all, same as there are basic salary ranges for Windows sysadmins.

I don't know where this myth comes from. Members of Congress get the same health care benefits that federal civil-service employees do. They get the same as the grunts in the local Social Security office.
Whether Congressional staffers are part of that system, I dunno.
