So, who are you going to vote for?Yes, it's that time again, as the 2004 presidential campaign gets underway! The Des Moines Register asked registered Iowa Democrats to declare their favorites. Who are you supporting?

Yes, I've been hearing quite a bit about this Ralph Nader fellow of late. I'd like to see more posts about this intriguing candidate.

I'm surprised that no one wanted Bill Clinton... my understanding of the Amendment that forbids more than 8 years in office refers to 8 consecutive years. Comments?

Clinton can't run again, due to the 22^nd Amendment: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice."

He could run as someone's veep, and the elected President could then resign.

And only once if you served more than two years of somebody else's term.

Still, the wording is such that it would be entirely legal to have a ticket with Bill on the bottom. As many times as he liked. Still, even a cursory understanding of the man suggests that second fiddle just ain't his style. And who would want to be his first?

The American Prospect did a similar examination, asking some talking heads, then polling the readers. (But this poll was flawed; no Hillary, for one thing.) There were several more interesting names on their list -- like Jesse Jackson, Jr. Since Josiah Bartlet is included, one may assume it was for entertainment purposes only ...

One respondent made her list a series of questions designed to test one's knowledge of prominent Democrats. I only got one question wrong, how bout you?

There's no need for Clinton to step down a rung. He can simply run for president in another country!
