I can't see where any of the links say what the hill of Tara actually is (sorry...an American Southener's initial connection to "Tara" also includes Scarlett...)

Tara was the ancient capital of Ireland and the seat of the Ard Rhi, the High King. The hill itself was the location of the high king's stronghold.

JAW - I think this is recent news because the high court case was just dropped this week. Yeah, to some this is relevant, but not mefi fpp relevant. Anyone who cares already knows, but I admire brujita for posting it. (And yes, it is just near to the hill, but will cover a huge amount of never to be investigated heritage - read tourist - sites for good). Shame no one cares.

This reminds me of Stonehenge. I was expecting it to be on a quiet peaceful hill somewhere and then when I arrived I discovered it's actually situated between two bustling motorways. There is nothing like looking at an anciet monument while semi-trucks carrying beer speed by.
